Autism Recommendation for Children and Adults

When conducting an assessment for Autism, there are usually two standardised tests used, the ADOS-2 and the ADI-R. The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured test that varies on the age and language ability of the individual. The ADI-R is an in-depth developmental Questionnaire, usually completed by parent/carer. The testing it's self usually takes about 3-4 hours. Other information is then gathered from other services involved such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, teacher etc. All this information is recorded in an extensive report with recommendations. The National Guidelines recommend that a diagnosis should not be made by a single clinician, therefore a medical professional would usually confirm these finding.
